Mopping Up My Tears
Drowning in my sadness with out you

Mopping Up My Tears
I sit alone and wipe my tears,
While thinking back across the years,
So many things I can’t forget,
So many things I still regret.
I mop the tears from off my face,
And try to put my thoughts in place,
But every time I think I’m through,
Another memory comes back too.
I’ve cried for people who have gone,
I’ve cried through nights that felt too long,
I’ve cried for words I wish I’d said,
And things I wished I could have changed.
But tears don’t mean that I am weak,
They are the words I cannot speak,
They wash away the hurt inside,
The pain I’ve carried, tried to hide.
I’ve learned that tears can come and go,
And sometimes help the healing grow,
You cannot always stop the rain,
Sometimes you have to feel the pain.
So I will mop my tears away,
And face another brand new day,
For even hearts that have been torn,
Can find the strength to face the morn.
I may still cry from time to time,
And that’s alright, because I’m human,
There is no shame in tears that fall,
They simply show I cared at all.
So let the tears fall when they must,
Then wipe them dry and carry on,
For every tear that leaves my eyes,
Reminds me I am still alive.
