I spend my night
in syncopated sighs
rhythmically tied
to piano sonata no. 14
on repeat
Beethoven too
knew something of longing
the ebb and flow
of notes
echo
the pushing and pulling
of life
like riding a horse
who will not respond
to your reigns
or a boat
adrift at sea
with no hope
of rescue
in the dark of those nights
one looks to the moon
and her glorious light
for comfort
but finds only
the intangibility
of wistful beams
as she merely reflects
but does not ever
truly
give
