Double bolt the doors, lock yourself up tight.
Grab your arms, get a dog, never turn out the light.
Stay awake, pinch your wrist so you won't close your eyes.
Be always on your guard, my dear, or get a nasty surprise.
There are beasties lurking, there are shadows everywhere.
But they do not live in corners, no they are not beneath the stair.
Those monsters of which I speak are as clever as can be.
They wear thick suits of human flesh, they look just like you or me.
We hear them in the coffee shops, see them in those we know.
They speak to us so freely, we invite them into our home.
Deceivers with hollow hearts charm us with words and smiles.
Our friends, our parents, even those with whom we walk down the aisle.
Creatures we ought to fear are not living under our beds.
Demons do not haunt our closets, corpses just stay dead.
We stopped looking in the usual places for untold horror.
All we have to do, you see, is gaze into a mirror.
Keep a constant vigil, child, trust no one and nothing.
True terrors only come when you least see them coming.
Don't get too close to people, do not look into their eyes.
You never know what sort of evil these fiends might try to hide.
Teeth can turn to fangs, hands to grotesque claws that catch.
So many monsters could get you if you fail to keep watch.
