Monster In Her Dreams
She lay in the quiet,
eyes fixed on night,
listening for steps,
that never belonged.
The air stood still,
as if afraid,
as shadows shaped
a face she knew.
It reached for her,
slow and sure,
like it had time,
like it had need.
She tried to wake,
but the world held tight,
locking her down,
with unseen hands.
Its breath on her skin
felt cold as ice,
a claim of power,
a warning sign.
She cried out once,
yet no sound rose,
only a tremble,
caught in her mind.
The monster spoke,
its voice so low,
it said her name,
like it owned her soul.
She broke the dream
with a single tear,
but knew it waited,
returning each night.
