Self-diagnosis lies in the bell-curve of a Japanese eggplant
not so much in height, more so in repetition.
Please do not mistake me as primary. I belong to the notion of four a.m. purples. There is a darkness in the newness of the moon. Waxing together, waning into purple. Lilac lashes, a burgundy gaze, mauve marks deepening under your eyes.
Love is a formidable power in the universe, but gamma rays can be compelling too. Purple is the most powerful visible wavelength of electromagnetic energy. Neither dignified, nor deadly. Sometimes, indigo and violet get clumped up together at the end of the rainbow. ROY always outshines GBIV. But I am far too delicate an idea to be muddled into brown.
This is an image seldom found: boysenberries eating a field of black bears. Wisteria and blue bells intoxicate me, just a honey bee longing for my perennial flower. A lone bumbling through purpled twilight. Maybe, too much time passed, and rain washed your scent away. And again, I cannot find you.
Lavender never intrigued you, so it’s a good thing I’m a few shades darker. You always said figs were your favorite. Seeded meat becoming a duality of life and preeminence. No trees here, only cows and cud. Crows reclaim the figs once again. And the days roll into one another, crushed currants under the burden of time. No water, no wine. A mulberry Mobius mocking us both.
I’ve always loved amethyst and the stillness of four in the morning. Bleed me from indigo to orchid, the ripeness of night into the cusp of day. Shine with me, silver sheen in these small hours. I am the phasing moon in my own plum-stained sky, and you are my sun. Spin me around and dip me over the asteroid belt. I want to disappear behind Orion, to sleep among the cool breath of purple nebulas.
Ferment me with grapes so that I may intoxicate you. Plum ringlets and periwinkle thumbprints of pleasure. Crush me down like the murex snail so you can see the concentration of my color. Wear me with nobility, for I am one of a million mollusks staining your calloused fingertips. Undulate with me in the pique of this moment, for my richest shade only lasts so long.
