Prickling crawling down my neck
Spreading formication to all my extremities
In both sunlight and darkness
Sheltering bend of arbor
Becoming claws of Wendigos
And the gnarled hands of witches leveling curses
Corrupting the sound of wind chimes
Into the clanging of ghastly shackles
My ears pulled back like a cottontail
Ready to run
Even inside public spaces
I feel your distorted countenance
Pressing through drywall behind me
Just like you did
On the screen of my porch that one night
Compelling me to retreat into the house
On the couch
I feel you peering from the landing
The air in the room evacuating
The pain in my chest
Reminding me to breathe
When I lay down
I know you are hovering
I am afraid to sleep
Because I may wake up
With your face
A breath away from mine
