Missing Those Days

verse 1

By Forest GreenPublished 2 months ago • 1 min read

Back when the block was our kingdom, no crown needed

Chain links and late nights, dreams barely seeded

Corner store runs with a pocket full of loose change

Trading stories 'bout who’d blow up, who stayed the same

Mama yelling through the screen door, dinner getting cold

We was chasing paper routes while the city lights glowed

Sneakers worn thin from running from the law

Laughing in the face of trouble, never fearing the fall

Hand-me-downs turned to hand-me-ups, we was rising slow

Every win felt giant, every loss made us grow

Windows down, system up, bumping old school tracks

Windows fogged from the heat of our dreams in the back

Friends turned to brothers in the heat of the grind

Swore we’d never leave each other far behind

Now the rearview’s foggy with the weight of what’s changed

And I’m sitting here wondering if the memories remain
