This should have ended long ago.

How could I have been so blind?

Now, we're nothing but a distorted tableau.

*

We started off well— a good combo.

Back then, we were of like mind.

This should have ended long ago.

*

We peaked at a pleasurable plateau,

and that's when things declined.

Now, we're nothing but a distorted tableau.

*

I should have told you then to go,

but I let things stew, as I'm inclined.

This should have ended long ago.

*

I'm caught in relationship undertow,

and we are hopelessly misaligned.

Now, we're nothing but a distorted tableau.

*

The end was very apropos,

especially when you whined.

This should have ended long ago.

Now, we're nothing but a distorted tableau.
