It laughs, it taunts, jeering

But no one sees it sneering.

It waits, for you, beware

Finding the courage to stare.

It digs, its claws, to trace

Every corner of my face.

It knows, memory, falters

As I tell of its alters.

It's there, I swear, just look

At all from me it has took.

It screams, it wants, bit more

I feel it reach from the door.

It took, it ate, gloated

On my life till long bloated.

It begs, it cries, please turn

But I cannot face its burn.

It clings, on glass, reflects

Swiftly my gaze redirects.

It pains, it howls, screeches

As on my flesh it leaches.

It runs, so close, chases

And my waking heart races.

It's there, behind, just peek,

But I fear I am too weak.

It's dead, over, long gone

My youth as fleeting as dawn.

It knows, as I, the end

Is just around the next bend.
