miracle

material

By Ida SonPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

-

i used to be a beetle

my skin was bone

like tin it was

green

and blue

miracle material

-

i am a lizard now

but

when I was a beetle

my doom it was

to waddle a gauntlet of predators

superb in their diversity

hard spiky exteriors

angles barbs and tips envenomed

shadowy sorts

not often colourful

decorative

in a mean way

-

my husk remained high

in a snare suspended

a shiny fading signal

of green and blue misfortune

-

now i am lizardous

and my predators are warmer

blooded

their tones are earthy and autumnal

glad as a lizard can be

i retained my green

and blue

exterior

-

dusty and lived in now

less new car smell

-

they observe me from outside parameters

of my conception

triangulating and calibrating

i bathe in sun as i am prone to do these days

nice and warm my vivid blood

i will move swiftly

and become you one day

-

a celestial body

my turn to shine down upon

-

beetles

lizards

and such

surreal poetry
