Mind, Body, and Soul

A Poem

The Eyes-

which are the window to the Soul

Salt tears are born in the eyes,

but they show the truth of the Soul

They burn when they fall down the sides of the face

and stain the cheekbones red.

The Mind-

Those tears fall from the eyes,

but they are conceived in the mind

The same mind that is ragged from its pain,

that is aching like a stomach

sick from an illness no medicine can heal.

The Body-

where bile rises into the mouth,

but the sickness will not come out

because the stomach is empty

The legs beneath it are weak and trembling

They will hold their body no longer.

The body collapses,

The mind collapses,

Eyes close,

and the Soul collapses.
