Sing clown, sing.

For no one knows the pain you feel.

Face so white, cheeks so red.

Green hair, plaid suit, little hat.

The sound of laughter is your tragedy.

For it's the only thing you live for.

For when the laughter dies,

so do you.

Make believe, powder and dye.

They'll know you with your little red nose.

But they ignore you on the streets

When your mask is clear

And the make-up and paint

wiped away.

You live for one moment then fade away

until another town and

another day

where you'll sing again

and hide the pain.

Sing clown, sing.
