A Poem

Aching, throbbing.

The lights feel like daggers stabbing into my eyes, my temples, and soul.

My stomach turns and I yearn for it to all go away,
for a dark corner to hide in,
away from the light of the day.

The pressure crushes my thoughts
and fog rolls in,
making it so I can’t think,
my mind swimming in a sea of saltwater,
drowning me.

The only solace comes from closed eyes,
darkness,
but I’m trapped in the bright lights,
blinding me,
no relaxation foreseen,
only pain and torment
until I can sleep.

Stuck.

Longing for relief.
