unable to sleep,

mind beholden to a search for answers

never intending to be found,

hands busy with

fluid motion.

an effort to ease the rushing tide of thoughts,

despite the cosmic force compelling them.

i fed a loom the grays of my hair,

spindling course, frizzled silver as

offering.

i wombed memory here –

a warp of time to ground, a weft of suffering to fill –

until it birthed meaning.

the years of my life spent with

cortisol coursing through veins,

fear propelling feet,

uncertainty informing decisions

lay the foundation for this mythology.

a bedtime story

to shift the focus and ease the ruminations.

time and suffering

beget meaning.

time and suffering

beget meaning.

the mantra of my nightly weaving.

I am a non-binary, trans-masc writer. I work to dismantle internalized structures of oppression, such as the gender binary, class, and race. My writing is personal but anecdotally points to a larger political picture of systemic injustice.
