Midnight Malaise

Third Night in Athens

By Amos GladePublished 2 years ago • 1 min read

I toss, I turn, I toss, I turn

Breathe in, Breathe out

Forget

about

the world

While others watch it burn.

Feet

are in

Feet

are out

I turn and toss some more, the house a humming roar.

My arms

are numb

and sore,

Remember that thing that happened when you were young?

A pill

or two

or three

Or maybe four? Anything to satisfy a snore.

Your throat

is dry

You have

to pee

The alarm will come and that you can’t ignore.

Close your eyes and try to sleep once more.
