Memory You Don't Recall

How I Remember It, You Wiped It

An enormous belly and swollen ankles

Happy times, no - more like shambles

of a young love, a teenage marriage

You acted like it was a miscarriage,

a confinement, not what you expected,

timing was off but you well knew!

~

I paid dearly for your mood stew

You shoved me outside, shoeless

Out of the blue it was, me clueless

Enormous belly, no chair for me to sit

My folks arrived 'cause you wanted to quit

~

Months passed, time intervened

baby not yet weaned

Out of the blue you began a fight

ended poorly for you that night

Locks changed, but knocks came at dawn

Not on your life, that was the end

Nothing you say makes me bend

Go on, be free, and I will be me

Save your breath, there is no plea

You crossed the line, no coming back

You’re already fading to black
