Memory's Metamorphosis

A Reflection

We walked in shadows cast by bright moonglow

We mocked the faults within our shining stars

For cursing stars is easy, far more so

Than finding out exactly who you are

And troubled pasts become familiar friends

Compared to futures standing distant, stark

Demanding that we know our plans, our ends--

No, we prefer to babble in the dark.

We wasted time we now know was well-spent

In company we trusted and would miss

That summertime, how fast it came and went

How stunning, memory’s metamorphosis

For simple moments spent so thoughtlessly

Have since become the ones most dear to me.
