Memorial Day

Sonnet for the gays

By Dave CoastPublished 5 years ago • 1 min read

Hot summer night in the Hollywood hills.

A crimson blood pool filled to the brim.

Beautiful young men come to tickle their thrills.

Soaking up their youthful splendor before it turns grim.

Charlie emerges from the scarlet red water

with milky white pearls draped across his chest.

Older men appear out of darkness ready to slaughter.

Poor unfortunate souls, thou shalt not protest.

Take a gulp, toke a joint, snort a line.

You'll feel fine or better yet, nothing at all.

No matter what happens, at least you'll shine,

oh sparkly young thing, soak up this moment before the fall.

Just don't hold on too tight

for this is every gay man's plight.
