It's time to meditate

Just sit back and relax

Let's start by closing our eyes

Focusing on just your breathing

In the nose

Out your mouth

Can you feel yourself melting

Into your chair

Into your bed

Let all the cares go

Let all the stresses go

Now

Imagine yourself

In a perfect dreamworld

Light breeze and sun shining down

Warmth on your face

Gentle lapping of the pool

Laughter in the distance

Birdsong all around

With clemenine rain and marmalade skylines

Sweet scent of a perfect day

Suddenly someone calls out to you

Your heart feels happy and content

You can't respond

You can't move

The sky turns black as coal

Absence of light

You feel a cold shiver down your back

You can't shake off the dread

The neverending nightmare approaching

Dread is in the air

As the mist gets thicker

Your breathing gets laboured

What was that wheezing?

What was that scream?

Is that the smell of death?

Maybe counting will help

Ten

A flash of light

Nine

The temperature keeps dropping

Eight

Is that metal being sharpened?

Seven

Rainfall turns to blood

Six

Chanting in the distance

Five

Footsteps from the horizon

Four

Swords unsheathed

Three

Shackles on your feet

Two

Rope around your waist and arms

One

Just wake up

Can't wake up

Try harder

Can't wake up

Breathe

Just breathe

Just...

That was great - I've been here with people, when the safety gets shattered from within.

Oh wow that took a turn, Paul Completely unexpected! You had me pleasant and peaceful, basking in the calm before you brought the hammer down you sly dog you. Brilliantly done! Loved being able to read it. Maybe I should go through the first part again, just to bring my heart rate back down

  • The number of scam emails & text messages I receive daily is staggering. We've had friends who have fallen hook, line & sinker for romance scams & have literally lost everything. Second half of the poem is what it seems to me it feels like.

  • Heheheheheheh I grinned at metal being sharpened and rainfall turns to blood! Loved this poem!
