Me No More

After It's Gone

By Julie LacksonenPublished 6 months ago • Updated 5 months ago • 1 min read
Sketch by author

We laughed,

Often at ourselves.

Now, I rarely laugh.

We chatted,

Sometimes about ourselves.

Now, I find myself mute.

We touched,

Always pleased with ourselves for satisfying one another.

Now, I am no more.

Do you mourn the loss of me?

Do you ache as I

For our missing

Laughter

Communication

Intimacy?

I lament the loss of me

As I grieve the absence of you.

I now know

It's equally grave

Being left

As it must be to leave.

Alas, the casualty of my destruction

Will linger

As does your passing.

I am not the me

I was

With

You.

Without you,

I am me no more.
