Me, Myself And I

My Confidants

The shadows in my room are my companions

confidants that know my darkest thoughts

Never have they broken or abandoned

if I go down, together, we get caught

*

They linger near my bed to stay connected

where I go, they are sure to follow too

The only ones I know who won't reject me

faithfully they endure - what I go through

*

In sun or shade they wait to give me counsel

my desires are their only goal

Tracing my demands in colored pencil

connecting me until I am made whole

*

As the sun goes down,

a light keeps them here with me

No matter if I smile or if I frown

They come willingly, seeing just what I see

*

Dark and lovely shadows on the ground
