Me
Let me have my say
We live in a world
Where people pretend,
There’s one way to act
And men will be men.
***
Well my life’s all wrong
I can’t pretend anymore,
Why is me being me
Against the law?
***
At times like this
The pressure’s too much to bear,
And the hard part to handle
Is I know you all care.
***
But maybe, just maybe
You’ll all drive me away,
Why can’t you just offer to help
And then let me have my say?
***
My love for you all is so very strong
And I know you all feel the same,
But everyone trying to run my life
Is getting to be a real pain.

About the Creator
Colleen Millsteed
My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
