Maths and Why I Hate It

I’ve always hated maths.

The repetitive sums and all the numbers.

God I fucking hated seeing the endless numbers in my textbook.

As I got older I noticed them more.

The very thing I hated, staring me in the face from the back of a crisp packet.

Then from my bag of fruit.

And eventually my bottle of wine.

I suddenly loved maths.

I went in search of the numbers on every packet I saw.

A chocolate biscuit became a 42.

A bowl of pasta became a 312.

42 plus 42 plus 312

Be careful not to reach 1000.

Now all I see is numbers.

Addition before my dinner,

Subtraction after my exercise.

I no longer enjoy food,

but thank God I love maths.
