Every party is a costume party.
I don an invisible mask that hides
The real person I am beneath,
That you cannot abide.
π
Isolation is bad for your brain, they say,
Like a cheerful rhyme,
Dislodging me from the haven
Where I spend my time.
πΊ
Make new friends and be happy.
Go outside and live a life.
Advice they give from a good place,
But a place I would never choose to reside.
π§π½ββοΈ
I made friends,
Lots of them,
Few that I can still find.
Gone the moment my acquaintance
No longer suited their fake lives.
π€Ώ
Iβm inconvenient in truth,
Words unable to hide,
A face that tells all,
So behind the mask it will slide.
π₯·
Confident and, dare I say, sexy,
Hiding the persona behind
And leaving a vague outline
Within which you can write.
π§ββοΈ
Filling my apparent blanks
With what you fantasize,
Finding a crack in the armor
Where I am trying to hide.
π¨π»βπ
You squeeze in uninvited,
Not knocking to come inside,
Foot lodged in my closing door,
No retreat until youβre satisfied.
π¦Έπ»ββοΈ
Reluctantly, Iβll present myself,
But only in disguise,
Wearing the face that you seek,
Though it is just a mask of lies.
