Show me a map

Show me the star that says “You’re right here”.

Which map did you pick to put in front of my face?

Is it from a mall, a village, a theme park, something else?

The map doesn’t matter because I can point to the star

See, “I’m right here”

Ask where I’m going

Give a little time to explain

Time to match the map with what I can see

Nothing’s matching up

Except the star says “I’m right here”

I trust the map you gave me, you had this one in mind

Not like one of the older ones

You know what happened last time

According to that map the restrooms were across the street

I said you stay here where the star says you would be

Be back in a flash, so please wait while I go pee

The restrooms did not look like the ones I’ve used before

I guess I was the first to use them

The clerk said no one peed there before

Everyone helped me along outside where I knew I’d left you

Back across the street where the star said you would be

I know that something’s wrong because of how angry people become

Like that time that map marked clearly that the church was a run-down bar

I’m glad you have my back

This world can be so cruel

Let’s try another map

I’d be lost without my star
