Mama Moon

get up, write it down

By Erin LucasPublished 11 months ago • Updated 11 months ago • 1 min read

Mama Moon,

I thank you

and your lessons

The teacher of

ebbs and flows

.

Tim Hill’s “Loving Spoons”

plays in my headphones

as I stare at the photo

of my parents,

on my fridge

.

Memories of loved

ones passed

ebb and flow

through my being

.

Sepia toned with age,

they loved each

other once

.

The sun and moon

that made this

galaxy of stars,

Sagittarius A or B

.

He holds a Bud

and his guitar

She holds him

as her legs

hold burgundy tights

.

I find myself

focused on the bend

of her elbow

holding

him and his radiant smile

.

I thank you

and your lessons

.

You made the

counterpart to my days

You were obfuscated

by the trees and clouds

and the other side of my world

.

I thank you

and your lessons

about cycles, time

the tides

you ebb

you flow

.

The Scorpio to

my father’s Aries

Sky ancestry

embodied

in the photo

on my fridge,

in me

.

Dad with strings like a veil,

and the celebration,

of harvests

.

Mama holding

the fire of lessons,

ebbs, and flows

.

Mama Moon,

I thank you

and your lessons

ebbs

flows
