Magic Mirror

A Genie is bound by three laws, but what binds the magic mirror?

Liquid silver over black paint

glazed over with taint

Mucking up what should have been a dream

Changing history time and again ripping the seam

five words that should never have been spoken

“Who is the fairest of them all?”

Speak now, stay silent,

It doesn’t matter now the damage is done, not time to relent

Tentacles of swirling ether rip open the glaze

twisting and writhing in the thrill of warping the maze

A genie is bound by laws

But what binds this being to the saw?

There is no sentience, yet it grows with each life it is given

What sorcery powers the minds of those chained by the ankles

locked in place? Strapped against their own reflection

Whose desires are being brought to the forefront?

only wish with good intentions but hidden in the font

Is a nature not so kind

that slight mistrust can destroy those trapped in the mind

Breaking the wisher from sanity to the inside madness

Warping their bodies to creatures of foulness

Other who beg for life are found soundless

Mirror, Mirror on the wall
