Magic Doesn't Last Here
Fairytales and Reality don't mix well
She sucks on a cigarette
leaned low on the wall
a woman of glitter
of opulence
glow tinged gray
and fading
the city streets
will do that
she glares at passersby
her wrinkles deep set
worry lines
more prevalent than the
ones better known for laughter
she blows out smoke
and takes another drag
dim red light
splotched across her cheeks
A fairy godmother
can throw a rock and find work
these days, but the thing is
the help never lasts
her heart always breaks
the work never ends
so she stays
cigarette in hand
leaned low on the wall
