A Breakup Clogyrnach

Started off with a lark's head knot

Birds of a feather, so we thought

But we were half-hitched

And too loosely stitched

Our dreams switched

Our cords caught

***

The nest of knots we were building

Became a tangled spiraling

Lost the leading strand

Slipped right through our hands

Couldn't land

Left hanging

Author's Note: Decided this was a good way to wrap up my accidental "M" artwork inspired poetry trilogy (Mosaic, Mural, Macrame) while also tying into the breakup nonets.

A Clogyrnach is a sestet stanza with lines of 8, 8, 5, 5, 3, and 3 syllables that uses an AABBBA rhyme scheme.

Check out the other poems in the "M" artwork series below.
