Lux Sit
An Ekphrastic Sonnet

Here are the high priestesses of the light
One plays with it, while the other dances
Consider them, and savor your delight
To taste such joy, we have so few chances

When hearts and minds and worlds do seem to shrink
When greed and ignorance ascend the throne
When war and famine steal our time to think
And we are all connected, and alone

Look to the arms, sketching love on the sky
The brown thighs eluding the modest dress
Allow their bold ecstasy to defy
Whatever darkness causes you distress

Brushed immortal, this dance will never end
May these priestesses each fractured heart mend
