Lunatic

Sister moon

Hunter Full Moon from my balcony- photo by Marilyn Glover

Sister moon, my celestial body sibling

I beseech thee, post Hunter's moon

Imploring your counsel

Confiding in you, the only one I trust

Shouting from my balcony

Shouting into the nighttime sky

May warrant neighbors calling me a lunatic

I say, let them, let them call me what they will

Only you keep it real

Illuminating all that is hidden

Giving me peace of mind

Sister moon, older, yet much wiser sister

Autumn Equinox has left me questioning

Questioning humanity

While seasonal change makes sense

Weather shifts, nature responds

Why is it that humans can't adapt, mature

A mentality unknown until sudden stupor

Some say I am a lunatic, too sensitive

So I save these conversations for you

Illuminating all that is hidden

Only you keep it real

Giving me peace of mind

*

Sister moon, so far away, but ever so near

I fear you are the only one who sees me

Truly sees me and the light I carry inside

I struggle as an earth-based being

Longing for connections beyond arm's reach

Teach me, please, sister, teach me

How to open people's eyes and hearts

Some call me a lunatic, confiding in you

Yet, only you understand me

The real me

Will you illuminate all they keep hidden

So they, too, will trust

And we can all finally have peace of mind
