Luminous Love Letters
A Tautogram for a Force of Nature
Light leaps loudly,
Linking laterally, looping,
Lancing lower, lapping lasciviously,
Licking, lingering, lashing,
Leaving lasting love letters
***
I love photographing lightning. Although I have many more recent examples, this one is particularly memorable for me. It was taken from my back yard at a company village in Table Rock, Wyoming in 1985, during a monstrous storm. (Yes, I was and am crazy.) This is a single exposure, captured on film and developed in my basement darkroom. The poor-quality image above was created from a scan of the original 35mm negative. The shot was one of a few of mine featured on the cover of our Company magazine, "The Gasser."
The village and the plant where I worked as a technician were demolished several years ago.
I hope you enjoy the read!

I love poems about nature. The photo alone was enough to draw me in. Great Job!
This is amazing! The tautogram and the photo!
Dangerous...but lovely alliteration!
Nice poem and that photo is amazing!
Fantastic! Wonderful description of lightning! What an incredible photo! I'm sure it was an experience photographing that storm. This would be a fun image to watch come to life in the darkroom. Developing film is the best!
You’re on a roll buddy, likin it 😀
I love thunder & lightning. Great capture with your photo and your words. 👏🏼
