Lucky I Can Swim

Drowning in Grief

By Sharon DavidsonPublished 8 years ago • 1 min read

Lucky I can swim as otherwise I'd drown.

Why do I let myself carry the weight of others? Why do I try and do it all?

It's okay to not be strong. It doesn't mean I am weak.

It's okay to find life hard. It doesn't mean I've failed.

It's okay to put myself first. It doesn't make me a bitch.

If I get down and feel like I'm sinking—it's cool I can swim back up.

I won't drown. My swimming is strong. But I know I don't need to move fast. Treading water is fine for now.

It's okay to feel just okay. It's okay to feel.
