Lucky Horse Shoe Saved My Life
I will be greatful for the rest of my life

Lucky Horse Shoe Saved My Life
Hanging crooked near the gate
An old horseshoe carried fate
Rust had stained its iron skin
Still my grandma trusted in it
She would touch it every day
Murmuring soft prayers her way
Claiming luck lived deep inside
I only laughed and rolled my eyes
Life moved on and years went fast
I forgot those stories passed
Working nights and barely sleeping
Carrying burdens always bleeding
Stress consumed my every thought
Peace was something never caught
Until one stormy freezing night
Everything changed in seconds time
Rain crashed hard against the street
Thunder shook beneath my feet
I walked home soaked to the bone
The empty road felt so alone
Streetlights flickered weak and pale
Wind screamed like a ghostly wail
Something deep inside felt wrong
Like danger waited all along
As I reached the rusted gate
A strange force pulled me away
One sharp step back through the rain
Saved my body from the pain
A speeding car came crashing wild
Driver drunk and running blind
Metal tore across the road
Straight toward where I once stood
The gate exploded into sparks
Glass flew violently through the dark
The old horseshoe snapped in two
Landing near my soaking shoes
If I never moved that night
Death would claim my final sight
My chest collapsed with shaking fear
While sirens echoed drawing near
People gathered in the storm
Wrapped in blankets trying warmth
The driver stumbled out in shame
Crying hard and screaming names
Meanwhile I stood frozen still
Trying hard to fight the chill
Staring at that broken shoe
Wondering somehow if it knew
Since that night I keep it close
Beside the door where flowers grow
Not because I fear bad luck
Or trust in myths when life gets rough
Yet something shifted deep in me
A strange respect for mystery
Some things cannot be explained
Some moments alter you forever changed
Now whenever thunder calls
And heavy rain begins to fall
I remember how death came near
Breathing cold against my ear
That lucky horseshoe scarred and worn
Saved my life that stormy morn
People may laugh all they like
I survived that deadly night
