lowercase

sweating the little things

today i m feeling lowercase

no capitals

no declarations

no exclamations

just me on this trembling ball

scrolling past men in high places

stealing the future

by the pounce

on highway 4

commuters philosophize

alternate endings

in their little metal boxes

at the grocery store

a woman in a red coat

is carrying 3 oranges

like the world might be saved

by something round & juicy

today i m lowercase

i want the sky to forget my name

i want the shadows to devour my flesh

i m tired of speaking

into ears that are disconnected

it s 84 degrees

the sun won t leave me alone

so i keep sweating the little things

my unimportant name

my pocketful of wishes

my heart
