Love to Hate to say Love
Pain of Convictions
Love to Hate to say Love
12/6/11
Hate.
They say it’s a strong word.
Indeed, meant for such strong feelings.
But when warranted, the cause is long gone.
The effect
Of which I feel for a long time.
Forever, maybe, even beyond that.
For I cannot say what lies beyond the grave.
Love.
Used so ubiquitously.
Such terms deemed necessary.
It gets thrown around so carelessly.
It’s bound.
And tossed around,
Given to people, places, things; nouns.
Won’t retain the significance it once found.
Yet
Hate is reserved for
The worst, preserved,
For we cannot lose its meaning.
Therefore, through
Omission and through use
We degrade the ‘love’, we fuse
It with ‘like’, love’s meaning is lost.
So
Here I bid adieu,
Not just to me but to a few,
For love is limited, but hate is forever
Or so
It seems, right?
Not from fear, but from,
Reason, I love to hate to say love.
