Love Goes Away

All On a Summer’s Day

To fall in love, all on a summer’s day

It was a longed for goal at age sixteen

To find the one who’d never go away

Be there through thick and thin and all between

*~*

A lofty dream held closely to your heart

Believing love was all you’d ever need

And summer nights were a good place to start

Love’s heat, by sun unmatched, burned bright to feed

*~*

A youth’s desire, all on a summer’s day

And night, soft yearning melts away the fears

And morning’s light reveals the hidden way

Of darkest games and leaves you with your tears

*~*

To find the one who’d never go away

Meant finding one who’d make you want to stay
