Lost in the Colours of a Broken Mind
Searching for missing bits of me

Lost in the Colours of a Broken Mind
I wandered through my own thoughts
where nothing stayed the same,
blue became a memory
and red forgot my name.
Yellow laughed behind me,
green crawled up the wall,
purple held my heartbeat
then watched me slowly fall.
I tried to find the doorway
I swear I left it there,
but madness moved the furniture
and scattered everywhere.
My thoughts became like paint drops
running through my head,
some were bright and beautiful
some wished they were dead.
I saw myself in mirrors
that never showed my face,
just pieces of a yesterday
I could never quite replace.
The colours kept on turning
like storms behind my eyes,
painting little promises
then covering them with lies.
I reached to touch the sunshine
but blackness took my hand,
and pulled me through a rainbow
I could not understand.
There were memories in crimson,
there were tears in deepest blue,
there were little bits of madness
still pretending to be true.
Yet somewhere in the chaos
one tiny colour stayed,
a little streak of silver
that refused to ever fade.
So if you find me wandering
where broken colours wind,
I’m not completely lost yet…
I’m just searching through
the colours
of a broken mind
for peace.
