Loss on a Screen.
Palestine, Congo, Sudan, Haiti.
The Western world watches as bombs plummet
Fire too powerful for the soft flesh of the innocents below
The choice box pops up
Scroll, keep watching
Keep watching
There are children in pieces
Fathers, begging for their babies to come back to life
Mothers, happy their children are dead
At least they won’t starve
At least they won’t cry themselves to sleep
If they can sleep.
The noise echoes through the glass screen
Cries and pleading for help
Can I sleep?
Heart-shattering in my body from the prison half a world away
Calling out to these souls
I am appalled.
We all saw war in our textbooks, detached from an outcome we never had to worry about
That was the end of it, right?
The people who wrote our world into existence watch
Smirking with serpentine smiles
Mouths dripping at the idea of the mountainous payout built on bodies.
A world built on complacence
Are we truly all connected if you cannot feel their suffering?
Can you feel the anguish of the earth beneath them crying out from blood-soaked soil?
Do not practice your ignorance, going on, deprived of sensation
Dancing on your private stage while the world burns around you.
If we are all connected
Then it is your very own pain that you diminish.

This was so heart-wrenching. I wish I had the power to put a stop to this!
