My heart is lost,

astray in the quest of night.

Gladdened by a snowflake frost,

And the haunt of a failed fight.

-

Explosions from the thicket stored,

yet more quiet than a soft breath.

It's the sound of thunder, never roared,

and the sudden silence of death.

-

Lashed by the guilt of all that's been,

and is now debris of its own.

Regret that hadn't followed sin,

has scraped it to solid stone.

-

It's forgotten what it's tasked to give,

Heart, you've taken to merrily snooze.

You've reverted blood you pump to live,

to that of an intentional bruise.
