It’s hard to spend your whole life frozen, stuck forever-in one place,

I guess I should have run, and left this town.

It’s appealing to be the stranger, where no one knows your face,

yet, here I am- still living in my old home town.

*

I grew up and stayed around, but no one here, recalls my name,

I’m like a well known, who is that, out of towner.

Waiting for the heartbreaking message , an acquaintance I knew, has died,

Politely stand in lines chatting with friendly smiles.

*

Small reunions with kids I played with, years ago, out in the park,

telling friendly strangers - I once knew, goodbye.

One by one we’re passing on, and getting out of town.

Just outside the city limits -

peacefully resting , 6 feet down.
