Lose Your Dream

lyric

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished 5 months ago 1 min read

Verse 1

I want to wake with fire in my chest

Chasing visions and dreams I can’t suppress

But the world says “settle,”

Says, “girl, be safe”

And I watch my dreams slowly fade away

Pre-Chorus

They say dreams are for the young

But. baby, I know that’s where the soul is strung

You clip those wings, you dim that light

You simply lose the fight

Chorus

Lose your dreams, lose your mind

Start forgetting what you came here to find

Trade your voice for a safe quiet life

But then the silence cuts like a knife

Lose your dreams, lose your flame

Start believing it’s all the same

I’d rather burn than be confined

Lose your dreams, lose your mind

Verse 2

I’ve seen the hollowness in other's eyes

The ones who gave up on their lives

They walk like ghosts, they breathe like stones

But I won’t let that be my home

Bridge

So I’ll hold my dreams like a sacred fire

Even when the world conspires

To tame my wild, to blur my lines

I’ll keep my mind, I’ll keep my spine

Final Chorus

Lose your dreams, lose your soul

Start forgetting what makes you whole

But I’ll always rise with the rebel wind

And dream again and again and again

Lose your dreams, lose your mind

But I won’t leave mine behind

I’ll fight to the death to keep what's mine

Lose your dreams — lose your mind
