We see only what we want to see

No truer words have been said

None can deny that what we want

Is front and center in our heads

Reflecting our desires and woes

Is what we do best

For this truth echoes so from first to last breathe

You want her to be some bitchy girl

That does nothing but talk about herself

Some loser that’s not worth your time

Because then you don’t have to face yourself

That you could be wrong, that all that is untrue

That what she thinks and believes you do too

You will never know the work she does

Her footprint on the world

The lives she has saved

The abuse she has braved

The heart as good as gold

In further years on she will have sold

Her soul to good and

Use the public power she has attained

By making the world aware of her name

To fight the worlds indignities

He is just a dork that cares

About video games and computers

He’s good at math and getting a laugh

But never for the right reasons

You give him no time of day

Because you don’t see

The wonder he adds into this world

The worth he holds inside

And years from now as you sit

With the latest laptop upon your legs

You will not remember that man

Who has given you this joy

So through ignorance we all take a stand

To spare our egos the pain

But for this I will not put the blame on you

For many of us often do

But

Tolerance and understanding is the key

So open your eyes or before long

You will find yourselves all alone
