Looking for My Exit
to an unknown road

I’m wandering down a road well-traveled
looking for the road less-travelled
and all I see are exit signs
to pit stops well-populated
and towns I’ve already seen.
The road map lied.
And yes, I know that road I seek,
the road less bleak,
is hard to find,
like I’ll see it
out of the corner of my eye
driving by,
and I’ll have to hit the brakes
real quick
and swerve the wheel
tires spinning gravel
to gain the traction
the road requires
and I’ll hit it loud,
pump the brakes
and coast into the silence
and peace of a less-travelled road.
I just have to find it first.
