Looking at Dark Clouds

Dark Clouds, when they have gone it’s a long dark night

Looking at Dark Clouds

Looking at dark clouds forming

Over the town tonight

Street lamps start trembling softly

Losing their fading light

Children rush through the pavements

People pull curtains tight

The wind begins its warning

Something feels not quite right

I stand beside the window

Coffee gone cold in hand

Thinking about the damage

Life never truly planned

Thunder rolls through the distance

Like anger learning to speak

Memories crawl from hiding

Finding the parts most weak

Some storms live in the heavens

Some stay locked in our chest

Both arrive without warning

Neither one lets us rest

Rain starts carving the rooftops

Washing the dirt away

Still some pain stains deeper

No matter how long it stays

Dark clouds keep moving slowly

Heavy with all they know

Carrying lost tomorrows

Over the world below

Morning may break the silence

Sunlight may reach the street

Yet somewhere inside my spirit

Those dark clouds still repeat
