Look to the Stars

Each one the past, a memory displayed.

Starry Night, Van Gogh

Their voice and laughs, thoughts and prayers forever we’ll replay.

The pains and joys, their life surreal, the seconds ticked, some rocked.

The sun does rise and set around, a pendulum, a day.

The heavens spin, and store our hours, a universal clock.

***

The song, that tune, the special one, reminds us of that time.

We danced and played near the stage the glorious night away.

The stars have stored the memory’s clocked, across the night-sky shine.

The twinkling stars, each one the past, a memory displayed.

***

When lost and down and you seek the ground, look up without delay

The star rays pierce the darkest nights, memories are brought to life.

The good times, hard times, wins and losses, forever we’ll replay.

Honor them, their story told, the victory’s and the strife.

***

Too early lost, we’re left behind, we find our hearts destroyed.

Look to the stars, recall their life, and share what brought you joy.

Lyrically solid and it fits the painting beautifully! I was lucky enough to see "The Starry Night" up close when it was on loan to a museum in Paris (can't remember which off the top of my head) and it hit me like a sledgehammer. I don't usually react very strongly to visual art but wow!

This was so honest and heartfelt. Even though there was a sad tone to it, the last line brought a sense of hope. Beautifully written :)
