Look...

and do not look away...

Snow-Covered Dawn (2024), oil on canvas by Sergey Miqayelyan, 60 × 80 × 2 cm

My gaze dances around the frosted plains,

Drinking in all that my body could handle.

The life, now slowly evading the once colorful trees,

Inspires my heart and the creativity in my veins,

Only to honor each and every branch of the naked trees that shudder.

The honeyed grain, married to the frostbitten morning dew,

Echoes the sun’s gleaming rays, welcoming everything anew.

The frost blankets the land much like it does my eyes,

And steals my attention away to bask in the soft morning light.

The rush of aquamarine that spills on the village view

Can barely penetrate the stubbornness of the dark river below.

Yet all the same, the diamonds that form when touched by its surface

Remind the surrounding ravine of their God-given purpose.

As the rivers give way to the copper-studded trails,

The lightness of the train speeds against the cars, coloured grey-black.

The clouds now linger to brush against the honeyed sun,

To preserve her delicateness from the gaze of grey stones to come.
