Look At Us

on growing up

Look at us,

This sorry group,

Patient,

Rapturous,

Naive

As the stars come out

Simple and pure

We lie awake

Wishing we could fly

Far away

.

Look at us,

A sorry flock

Weak

Angry

Rebellious

With the world

Against us

With passion and fire

We’re burning our lease

on life

.

Look at us,

such a sorry pack.

Sore,

Weary,

Longing

For a moment,

an interlude

In our everyday lives

The duration of which

Is peace,

.

Look at us

We’re still a sorry group

Christened by fire

And bathed in rosewood

Our conversations slip

In and out

of germane topics

Reunited,

World weary, but

No less rapturous

Than when we began,

We peer through the veneer

of lies and sin

To see each other

On the other side.
