Long Since Forsaken

Personal hells explored.

It happened long ago

But there were things

That made it feel not so

Still here, am I

Waiting for it to sink in

An unknown explanation

A story I don't know how to begin

Yet, it happened so many years ago

And you can make it feel

Like something I'd never know

The heart still beats for you

Even though you didn't hold on

What was I to do

You were already gone

Never in a million

Was it supposed to be this way

It happened more than I knew

Each and every day

Fought the darkness that abounds

To make it home intact

Avoided hell's hounds

Hoping for promises to be fact

Then hell rose up from below

And life took its solemn turns

A day you didn't show

Forever followed the flames' burns
