So it begins on gray days,
slowly raindrops come down,
they sparkle and they shine all around,
until the dark clouds gather
and the rain come falling down.
No one owns the rain,
a free spirit of the sky,
people push it aside with unbrellas,
they grumble when the day is not sunny -
lonely is the rain.
*
Life begins,
each spring as flowers bloom,
the earth opens up,
the world turns green again,
raindrops dazzle,
little feet splash in mud puddles,
lovers promenade hand in hand,
perhaps stopping to dance in the rain,
they wait for the rainbow to appear,
wanting to see the sun shine once more,
sharing wet kisses,
but lonely is the rain.
*
Splatters upon the river,
little waves lapping along,
gulls dancing upon them,
as the rain comes trickling down.
Sitting upon the river bank,
hand in hand beneath an oak tree,
dreaming on a rainy day,
two by two but -
lonely is the rain.
*
Love like rain,
falls for a while,
then fades away leaving behind blue skies,
new love comes along ,
the rain begins,
through the raindrops they go dancing -
still lonely is the rain...
